John Dobbs (John Gordon Dobbs) was born on June 3, 1875 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He made his Major League debut on April 20, 1901 for the Cincinnati Reds. In 1901, his rookie year, he hit .274 with 2 home runs and 27 RBI. Dobbs played for the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs and Brooklyn Superbas over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that John Dobbs's best season was 1903, when he knocked in 63 runs.
