John Avery (John Edward Avery, Jr.) was born on January 11, 1976 in Richmond, Virginia. After going to high school at Asheville (NC), Avery attended Northwest Mississippi Community College and the University of Mississippi. Avery made his professional debut in the NFL in 1998 with the Miami Dolphins. He played for the Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings over the course of his 3 year career.
Most people believe that 1998 was John Avery's best year, as he ran for 503 yards and had 1085 kick return yards.
