Born on August 15, 1935 in Middletown, Connecticut, Joey Jay (Joseph Richard Jay) played for the Milwaukee Braves, Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves over the course of his 13 year career. Jay broke into the bigs on July 21, 1953 with the Milwaukee Braves, and put up a 2.14 ERA in 96.2 innings pitched in 1958, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Joey Jay's best season was 1961, when he posted a 3.53 ERA, won 21 games and struck out 157 batters.
