Born on March 8, 1967 in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Joel Johnston (Joel Raymond Johnston) played for the Kansas City Royals, Pittsburgh Pirates and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 5 year career. Johnston broke into the bigs on September 5, 1991 with the Kansas City Royals, and put up a 3.38 ERA in 53.1 innings pitched in 1993, his rookie year.
