Joe Winkler (Joseph C. Winkler) was born on March 9, 1922 in Hammond, Indiana. Winkler attended Purdue University. Winkler made his professional debut in the NFL in 1945 with the Cleveland Rams. He played for the Cleveland Rams for his entire 1 year career.
