Joe Torre is better off without George, but is George better off without him?

Well, it has finally happened.  George the moron of baseball ownership has lost him mind what little is left of it.  This will most likely pissed off a lot of people but so be it.  After all these years of watching him stick his nose into it, he finally has done something so wrong and without merit, even for him, by giving that last offer to Torre for only one years' employment and at the same salary.  It is a known fact I am not a Yankee fan but some of their players over the years I truly love to watch play, Mickey, Roger, W. Ford, Elston, Babe and too many others I can't name at the minute.  What he has done now is make it look like Torre is refusing to manage the Yankees anymore by saying no to a offer that had no merit and was used to make Joe look the bad guy.  As I have written in the past I refuse to give George a break, because he is now a owner nongrasis and has gotten so far away from the running of the game by staying in FLorida all the time and after listening to what happened this week maybe some of the rumors are right about him and his health.  I hope that is not the case here, over the years his has proved to be a very good owner in some of his deals and sticking his nose in it. But to do this to one of the best managers in Yankee history goes over the line. Just what the hell is he thinking.  Todays fans are far more ability to understand the game then when he first took over and you had total and blind loyality with most Yankee fans but todays fans really seem to know what is up. This year Joe did the best job of managing that he ever has except he didn't win the world series. The manager can only put the names of the players on the lineup card he can't bat for them or pitch and field for them so to blame him for losing in the playoffs makes George to me somewhat of a uninformed owner that just didn't understand the game anymore and has let it pass him by.  I was happy and sad to see the Yankees lose the playoffs but only because of what it could do to Torre.  If, I may make a statement here, that the Yankees and George are better off with Joe Torre as manager than they are without him is something history will prove out and the past under Torre leadership has already proved out.  Sorry, George you blew this one big time and the only loser here is you and the Yankee fans.

Let's face it. George Steinbrenner is awful, but he's not "the moron of baseball ownership." The biggest moron owner is without a doubt Peter Angelos. At least they appreciate Steinbrenner in New York. Mention Angelos' name in Baltimore or Washington D.C. and people might as well spit venom at you.
