Joe Sewell (Joseph Wheeler Sewell) was born on October 9, 1898 in Titus, Alabama. He made his Major League debut on September 10, 1920 for the Cleveland Indians. In 1921, his rookie year, he hit .318 with 4 home runs and 93 RBI. Sewell played for the Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees over the course of his 14 year career.
