Joe Ruetz (Joseph Heubert Ruetz) was born on October 21, 1916 in Racine, Wisconsin. After going to high school at Central (South Bend, WI), Ruetz attended the University of Notre Dame. Ruetz made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1946 with the Chicago Rockets. He played for the Chicago Rockets for his entire 2 year career.

Most people believe that 1946 was Joe Ruetz's best year.
