Born on May 24, 1892 in Chicago, Illinois, Joe Oeschger (Joseph Carl Oeschger) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Giants, Boston Braves and Brooklyn Robins over the course of his 12 year career. Oeschger broke into the bigs on April 21, 1914 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 3.77 ERA in 124 innings pitched in 1914, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Joe Oeschger's best season was 1917, when he posted a 2.75 ERA, won 15 games and struck out 123 batters.
