Joe Morgan (Joe Leonard Morgan) was born on September 19, 1943 in Bonham, Texas. He made his Major League debut on September 21, 1963 for the Houston Colt .45s. In 1965, his rookie year, he hit .271 with 14 home runs and 40 RBI. Morgan played for the Houston Colt .45s, Houston Astros, Cincinnati Reds, San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies and Oakland Athletics over the course of his 22 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Joe Morgan's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1976, when he slugged 27 home runs, stole 60 bases, hit for a .320 average and knocked in 111 runs. However, others believe that it was 1973, when he slugged 26 home runs, stole 67 bases, hit for a .290 average and knocked in 82 runs.
