Joe Mills (Joseph Edward Mills) was born on September 3, 1897 in Knoxville, Ohio. After going to high school at Alliance (OH), Mills attended Carnegie Mellon Univeristy. Mills made his professional debut in the NFL in 1922 with the Akron Pros. He played for the Akron Pros and Akron Indians over the course of his 5 year career.
