Joe Marty (Joseph Anton Marty) was born on September 1, 1913 in Sacramento, California. He made his Major League debut on April 22, 1937 for the Chicago Cubs. In 1937, his rookie year, he hit .290 with 5 home runs and 44 RBI. Marty played for the Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that Joe Marty's best season was 1940, when he knocked in 50 runs.
