Joe Lafata (Joseph Joseph Lafata) was born on August 3, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan. He made his Major League debut on April 17, 1947 for the New York Giants. In 1949, his rookie year, he hit .236 with 3 home runs and 16 RBI. Lafata played for the New York Giants for his entire 2 year career.
