Joe Kennedy Dies Today at 28

Just when I thought my problems were so bad they were put in perspective with the sudden death of Joe Kennedy in Tampa, Florida this morning. Kennedy passed out and was taken to a hospital. As of now there are no reasons being given for his death.

Kennedy played for Rays, Rockies, A's, Diamondbacks and Blue Jays. We send condolences to the Kennedy family at this time of  mourning.

This is similar to the death of Rod Beck back in June. Looked for autopsy report on Beck but couldn't find much on Google except that they were waiting for autopsy results on Beck but that was 5 months ago.

Beck died of a cocaine overdose. MLB.com is reporting it was a heart attack.

John F Kennedy's Dad was Joe Kennedy. He basically set up the rules for the SEC and NASD on behalf of the gov't because he knew how to rip people off better than anyone.

Thanks for the update on Beck. I was thinking he was found to have used drugs but was having trouble finding a verifying story. My problems are nothing compared to those of the Kennedy family at this time.

It's sad when any athlete dies. These guys put their bodies through hell just to be in the spotlight for x amount of time and to provide us with some sort of entertainment. I hope the causes were natural. It would hurt to see another athlete fall from some sort of drug related incident.

it is sad when anybody dies. just because you happen to be good at something others are not does not make it any more or less tragic. no offense to anybody but there is no point in treating it as such.

Regardless, he's no Joe Delaney - former Chiefs RB who died while trying to save 3 kids from drowning in a pond (saving one) though he himself could not swim.

Joe Delaney played college ball just 55 miles from where we used to live in Pineville and his coach at Northwestern (La.) was Sam Goodwin who graduated from high school with me in 1962. Delaney didn't even think about what would happen to him when he dived in that day to try to save the kids from drowning. Joe Delaney is the kind of hero kids need to emulate.
