Joe Hicks (William Joseph Hicks) was born on April 7, 1933 in Ivy, Virginia. He made his Major League debut on September 18, 1959 for the Chicago White Sox. In 1962, his rookie year, he hit .224 with 6 home runs and 14 RBI. Hicks played for the Chicago White Sox, Washington Senators and New York Mets over the course of his 5 year career.
