Born on September 2, 1900 in Covington, Kentucky, Joe Heving (Joseph William Heving) played for the New York Giants, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox and Boston Braves over the course of his 13 year career. Heving broke into the bigs on April 29, 1930 with the New York Giants, and put up a 5.22 ERA in 89.2 innings pitched in 1930, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Joe Heving's best season was 1944, when he posted a 1.96 ERA and notched 10 saves.
