Born on August 15, 1958 in Lexington, Kentucky, Joe Cowley (Joseph Alan Cowley) played for the Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox and Philadelphia Phillies over the course of his 5 year career. Cowley broke into the bigs on April 13, 1982 with the Atlanta Braves, and put up a 4.47 ERA in 52.1 innings pitched in 1982, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Joe Cowley's best season was 1986, when he posted a 3.88 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 132 batters.
