Joe Cofer (Joseph Louis Cofer) was born on March 5, 1963 in Knoxville, Tennessee. After going to high school at Rule (Knoxville, TN), Cofer attended the University of Tennessee. Cofer made his professional debut in the NFL in 1987 with the Washington Redskins. He played for the Washington Redskins for his entire 1 year career.
