Born on November 4, 1910 in Rankin, Pennsylvania, Joe Beggs (Joseph Stanley Beggs) played for the New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds and New York Giants over the course of his 9 year career. Beggs broke into the bigs on April 19, 1938 with the New York Yankees, and put up a 5.40 ERA in 58.1 innings pitched in 1938, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Joe Beggs's best season was 1940, when he posted a 2.00 ERA and won 12 games.
