Joe Auer (Joseph Auer) was born on October 11, 1941 in Trenton, New Jersey. After going to high school at Coral Gables (FL), Auer attended Georgia Institure of Technology and the University of Miami. Auer made his professional debut in the AFL in 1964 with the Buffalo Bills. He played in the AFL for 4 years, playing for the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins over the course of his 4 year AFL career.Auer also played in the NFL for 1 year, playing for the Atlanta Falcons the entire time.
Most people believe that 1966 was Joe Auer's best year, as he ran in 4 TDs, caught 4 TD passes, had 698 kick return yards and ran back a kickoff for a touchdown.
