Jimmy Wood (James Leon Wood) was born on December 1, 1842 in Brooklyn, New York. He made his Major League debut on May 8, 1871 for the Chicago White Stockings. In 1871, his rookie year, he hit .378 with 1 home run and 29 RBI. Wood played for the Chicago White Stockings, Troy Haymakers, Brooklyn Eckfords and Philadelphia White Stockings over the course of his 3 year career.
