Jimmy Heidel (James Byrnes Heidel) was born on December 1, 1943 in Yazoo City, Mississippi. After going to high school at Yazoo City (MS), Heidel attended the University of Mississippi. Heidel made his professional debut in the NFL in 1966 with the St. Louis Cardinals. He played for the New Orleans Saints and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 2 year career.

Most people believe that 1967 was Jimmy Heidel's best year.
