Jimmy Esmond (James J. Esmond) was born on August 8, 1889 in Albany, New York. He made his Major League debut on April 20, 1911 for the Cincinnati Reds. In 1911, his rookie year, he hit .273 with 1 home run and 11 RBI. Esmond played for the Cincinnati Reds and Newark Peppers over the course of his 4 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Jimmy Esmond's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1915, when he knocked in 62 runs. However, others believe that it was 1914, when he stole 25 bases and hit for a .295 average.
