Jimmy Brown (James Robertson Brown) was born on April 25, 1910 in Jamesville, North Carolina. He made his Major League debut on April 23, 1937 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1937, his rookie year, he hit .276 with 2 home runs and 53 RBI. Brown played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 8 year career.

Most people believe that Jimmy Brown's best season was 1939, when he hit for a .298 average and knocked in 51 runs.
