Born on August 27, 1947 in Maywood, California, Jim York (James Harlan York) played for the Kansas City Royals, Houston Astros and New York Yankees over the course of his 7 year career. York broke into the bigs on September 21, 1970 with the Kansas City Royals, and put up a 2.89 ERA in 93.1 innings pitched in 1971, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Jim York's best season was 1971, when he posted a 2.89 ERA and struck out 103 batters.
