Born on January 31, 1949 in Salinas, California, Jim Willoughby (James Arthur Willoughby) played for the San Francisco Giants, Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 8 year career. Willoughby broke into the bigs on September 5, 1971 with the San Francisco Giants, and put up a 2.36 ERA in 87.2 innings pitched in 1972, his rookie year.
