Jim Welsh (James Edward Welsh) was born on September 17, 1902. After going to high school at Malden (MA), Welsh attended Colgate University. Welsh made his professional debut in the NFL in 1923 with the Rochester Jeffersons. He played for the Frankford Yellow Jackets, Pottsville Maroons and Rochester Jeffersons over the course of his 4 year career.
