Born on February 17, 1953 in Burbank, California, Jim Umbarger (James Harold Umbarger) played for the Texas Rangers and Oakland Athletics over the course of his 4 year career. Umbarger broke into the bigs on April 8, 1975 with the Texas Rangers, and put up a 4.12 ERA in 131 innings pitched in 1975, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Jim Umbarger's best season was 1976, when he posted a 3.15 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 105 batters.
