Jim Steffen (James William Steffen) was born on May 1, 1936 in Orange, California. After going to high school at Tustin (CA), Steffen attended Santa Ana College and the University of California - Los Angeles. Steffen made his professional debut in the NFL in 1959 with the Detroit Lions. He played for the Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions over the course of his 7 year career.

Most people believe that 1963 was Jim Steffen's best year, as he picked off 5 passes and ran back an interception for a touchdown.
