Born on June 19, 1950 in Long Beach, California, Jim Slaton (James Michael Slaton) played for the Milwaukee Brewers, Detroit Tigers and California Angels over the course of his 16 year career. Slaton broke into the bigs on April 14, 1971 with the Milwaukee Brewers, and put up a 3.78 ERA in 147.2 innings pitched in 1971, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Jim Slaton's best season was 1976, when he posted a 3.44 ERA, won 14 games and struck out 138 batters.
