Jim Simmons (James A. Simmons) was born on April 17, 1902 in , TX. After going to high school at Sentinel (OK), Simmons attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Simmons made his professional debut in the NFL in 1927 with the Cleveland Bulldogs. He played for the Providence Steam Roller and Cleveland Bulldogs over the course of his 2 year career.
