Born on November 18, 1943 in Riverside, California, Jim Shellenback (James Philip Shellenback) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Washington Senators, Texas Rangers and Minnesota Twins over the course of his 9 year career. Shellenback (Shelly) broke into the bigs on September 15, 1966 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 3.91 ERA in 101.1 innings, his rookie year.Pitched 11 Innings in first major league start,allowing only 6 hits. Best pitch was a palmball. While pitching for Washington,his nickname was "The Yankee Killer" because most of his wins were against New York.

Most people believe that Jim Shellenback's best season was 1970, when he posted a 3.68 ERA and struck out 57 batters.

Jim is the nephew of former major league pitcher,Frank Shellenback
