[edit] Biography

Born on September 23, 1942 in Lakeview, Oregon, Jim Rooker (James Phillip Rooker) played for the Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 13 year career. Rooker broke into the bigs on June 30, 1968 with the Detroit Tigers, and put up a 3.75 ERA in 158.1 innings pitched in 1969, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Jim Rooker's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1974, when he posted a 2.78 ERA, won 15 games and struck out 139 batters. However, others believe that it was 1973, when he posted a 2.85 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 122 batters.
