Born on December 14, 1942 in Franklin, North Carolina, Jim Roland (James Ivan Roland) played for the Minnesota Twins, Oakland Athletics, Texas Rangers and New York Yankees over the course of his 10 year career. Roland broke into the bigs on September 20, 1962 with the Minnesota Twins, and put up a 4.10 ERA in 94.1 innings pitched in 1964, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Jim Roland's best season was 1969, when he posted a 2.19 ERA.
