[edit] Biography

Born on December 1, 1944 in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Jim Ray (James Francis Ray) played for the Houston Astros and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 9 year career. Ray broke into the bigs on September 16, 1965 with the Houston Astros, and put up a 2.68 ERA in 80.2 innings pitched in 1968, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Jim Ray's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1971, when he posted a 2.12 ERA and won 10 games. However, others believe that it was 1969, when he posted a 3.91 ERA and struck out 115 batters.
