Biography[]

Born on October 30, 1935 in Williamston, North Carolina, Jim Perry (James Evan Perry) played for the Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics over the course of his 17 year career. Perry broke into the bigs on April 23, 1959 with the Cleveland Indians, and put up a 2.65 ERA in 153 innings pitched in 1959, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Jim Perry's best season was 1970, when he posted a 3.04 ERA, won 24 games and struck out 168 batters.
