Born on September 4, 1906 in Mooresburg, Tennessee, Jim Mooney (Jim Irving Mooney) played for the New York Giants and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 4 year career. Mooney broke into the bigs on August 14, 1931 with the New York Giants, and put up a 2.01 ERA in 71.2 innings pitched in 1931, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Jim Mooney's best season was 1931, when he posted a 2.01 ERA.
