Jim Kearney (James Lee Kearney) was born on January 21, 1943 in Wharton, Texas. After going to high school at Training (Wharton, TX), Kearney attended Prairie View A&M University. Kearney made his professional debut in the NFL in 1965 with the Detroit Lions. He played in the NFL for 9 years, playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints over the course of his 9 year NFL career.Kearney also played in the AFL for 3 years, playing for the Kansas City Chiefs the entire time.

Most people believe that 1972 was Jim Kearney's best year, as he picked off 5 passes and ran back 4 interceptions for touchdowns.
