Born on August 3, 1959 in Hollywood, California, Jim Gott (James William Gott) played for the Toronto Blue Jays, San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates and Los Angeles Dodgers over the course of his 14 year career. Gott broke into the bigs on April 9, 1982 with the Toronto Blue Jays, and put up a 4.43 ERA in 136 innings pitched in 1982, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Jim Gott's best season was 1988, when he posted a 3.49 ERA, notched 34 saves and struck out 76 batters.
