Jim Carroll (James S. Carroll) was born on May 6, 1943 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. After going to high school at Marist (Atlanta, GA), Carroll attended the University of Notre Dame. Carroll made his professional debut in the NFL in 1965 with the New York Giants. He played in the NFL for 4 years, playing for the Washington Redskins and New York Giants over the course of his 4 year NFL career.Carroll also played in the AFL for 1 year, playing for the New York Jets the entire time.

Most people believe that 1966 was Jim Carroll's best year.
