Jim Benton (James Warren Benton) was born on September 25, 1916 in Carthage, Arkansas. After going to high school at Fordyce (AR), Benton attended the University of Arkansas. Benton made his professional debut in the NFL in 1938 with the Cleveland Rams. He played for the Cleveland Rams, Los Angeles Rams and Chicago Bears over the course of his 9 year career.
Most people believe that 1945 was Jim Benton's best year, as he hauled in 45 receptions, had 1067 receiving yards and caught 8 TD passes.
