Jim Beattie
[edit] Biography
Born on July 4, 1954 in Hampton, Virginia, Jim Beattie (James Louis Beattie) played for the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners over the course of his 9 year career. Beattie broke into the bigs on April 25, 1978 with the New York Yankees, and put up a 3.73 ERA in 128 innings pitched in 1978, his rookie year.
There is some disagreement on what was Jim Beattie's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1984, when he posted a 3.41 ERA, won 12 games and struck out 119 batters. However, others believe that it was 1982, when he posted a 3.34 ERA and struck out 140 batters.
