Jim Battle (James Battle) was born on February 20, 1938 in Bartow, Florida. After going to high school at Union Academy (Bartow, FL), Battle attended Southern Illinois University. Battle made his professional debut in the NFL in 1963 with the Minnesota Vikings. He played for the Minnesota Vikings for his entire 1 year career.
