Jim Barton (James Edward Barton) was born on June 12, 1934 in Kirbyville, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at Wahama (Mason, WV), Barton attended Marshall University. Barton made his professional debut in the AFL in 1960 with the Dallas Texans. He played for the Denver Broncos and Dallas Texans over the course of his 3 year career.
