[edit] Biography

Born on October 5, 1889 in Barnett, Georgia, Jim Bagby (James Charles Jacob Bagby, Sr.) played for the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 9 year career. Bagby broke into the bigs on April 22, 1912 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 2.61 ERA in 272.2 innings pitched in 1916, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Jim Bagby's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1920, when he posted a 2.89 ERA, won 31 games and struck out 73 batters. However, others believe that it was 1917, when he posted a 1.96 ERA, won 23 games and struck out 83 batters.
