Jigger Statz (Arnold John Statz) was born on October 20, 1897 in Waukegan, Illinois. He made his Major League debut on July 30, 1919 for the New York Giants. In 1922, his rookie year, he hit .297 with 1 home run and 34 RBI. Statz played for the New York Giants, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs and Brooklyn Robins over the course of his 8 year career.

Most people believe that Jigger Statz's best season was 1923, when he stole 29 bases, hit for a .319 average and knocked in 70 runs.
