Jets Can't Succeed

Changes should be made, and Chad Pennington is the first. He can't bring success, and injury's "killed" his future. It's time for another quarterback.
"Whatever decision coach decides to make, that's his decision," Pennington said.
The decision should be made, because Pennington doesn't excel. He wasn't impressive against the Bills, and he brings failure to the Jets.
"They did a good job," Chad Pennington said. "They had a great game plan and really stuck it to us."
He played horrible, and the Jets can't continue with Pennington. He had no touchdown passes, and only 106 yards.
"I went back through the tape, looked at it and felt very good about the decision-making process," Eric Mangini said. "There were quite a few plays that I really liked."
It doesn't matter, the Jets can't win. It's been horrible, and nobody can turn this around.
"At 1-6, none of us are solidified in our jobs," Pennington said. "That's how it is when you are facing a losing streak. When you're 1-6, I think everyone is being evaluated from the top down. We're all on a pressure cooker."
The pressure is over, everyone gave up. The problem is Pennington, and he still isn't benched.
"I'm going to work as hard as I can defensively to make sure that we get these issues corrected, and they need to get corrected," Mangini said.
He's not working hard enough, and that wouldn't even work. Mangini needs to prosper, because he'll get fired if this continues. His play calling "sucks," and he can't coach the Jets for "nothing."
Losing Jonathan Vilma isn't important this season, because he can't turn things around. He could be finished for the season, and the Jets defense is already horrible.
"I am disappointed that my season ended prematurely," Vilma said in a statement. "I was looking forward to playing the rest of the season and helping the team get back on track. I now look forward to supporting my teammates for the rest of the 2007 season and returning to the field with them in 2008."
Vilma had 17 tackles, 10 solo and 1 sack. He could have done better, but it doesn't matter.
"This is a not a career-threatening injury and the doctors expect a full recovery," said Mitch Frankel.
Good news, because Vilma plays great defense. A career threatening injury wouldn't be good.
"After reviewing all of the information available, the best thing for Jonathan and the Jets is to place him on injured reserve and turn his focus to rehabilitation and the 2008 season," general manager Mike Tannenbaum said.
Vilma has a great future ahead; calling a quits this season is smart. The Jets need him, because he's important to the defense. It doesn't make sense to play him this season, because the Jets aren't succeeding.
Rookie David Harris will replace Vilma, and he's got learning to do.
"Vilma's a great player," David Harris said. "Anytime that you lose a player like that, it's very hard to fill his shoes. He's a great team leader. He's very well respected and he has run the defense for four years now. I'll try to be ready when my number is called."
The Jets are just playing the season, their playoff hopes are finished. Vilma should just rehab, and watch the "suffering."
"Jonathan is a leader and has always done everything he can to help this team win," Mangini said. "He's diligent in his preparation and has always unselfishly taken the time to share his knowledge of the game with his teammates. I know that he will approach this challenge with that same type of effort and focus."
The Jets will suffer without Vilma.
