Jeter Jammed, Johnson Cruises

Even though New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter jammed his right wrist sliding into second base, the Yankes were victorious on the solid pitching of Randy Johnson. Johnson went six-plus innings and with the help of Ron Villone and Kyle Farnsworth shutout the lead-leading Detroit Tigers. Johnson carried a no hitter into the sixth, but it was broken up on a single by Ivan Rodriguez. When Johnson gave up a second hit to start the seventh, Yanks manager Joe Torre pulled Johnson, even though the Big Unit only threw 91 pitches. While Johnson was not overpowering, only striking out four batters, he did an excellent job spotting his pitches.
As for Jeter, he was taken out for precautionary reasons so that his hand could be iced. There's a good chance that he'll be in Tuesday's starting lineup.
