Born on August 26, 1892 in Perkins, Oklahoma, Jesse Barnes (Jesse Lawrence Barnes) played for the Boston Braves, New York Giants and Brooklyn Robins over the course of his 13 year career. Barnes broke into the bigs on July 30, 1915 with the Boston Braves, and put up a 2.37 ERA in 163 innings pitched in 1916, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Jesse Barnes's best season was 1919, when he posted a 2.40 ERA, won 25 games and struck out 92 batters.
