Jerry Shipkey (Gerald Wade Shipkey) was born on October 31, 1925 in Fullerton, California. After going to high school at Anaheim (CA), Shipkey attended the University of California - Los Angeles and the University of Southern California. Shipkey made his professional debut in the NFL in 1948 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that 1948 was Jerry Shipkey's best year, as he ran in 8 TDs.
